With the summer quickly fading away and the cold nights drawing in, now is the perfect time to think about what you’d like to achieve for the rest of 2016.
Spiritual happiness is something that should be worked on year-round. Be mindful of the habits that you form, and make sure that they’re always contributing to your happiness.
You can do this by incorporating the following steps that can contribute towards your spiritual happiness:
1. Spend time in nature
Go for a bike ride in the evening, take your dog for a walk or sign up for some tennis or badminton classes to get you outdoors. Alternatively, if energetic sports aren’t really your thing, try joining a yoga class at your local leisure centre, or doing some at home.
2. Calm your mind
Feeling overwhelmed? If so, find a quiet area of your home – where you’re unlikely to be disturbed or distracted – and spend five minutes meditating there every morning and evening. You’ll immediately notice yourself feeling calmer. Gradually increase this to 20 minutes if you can.
3. Boost your energy
There’s no point getting your head and life in order if your surroundings are bringing you down. Increase the yang energy in your home by lighting some candles, essential oils and incense. You’ll instantly notice the atmosphere (and your mood) change, and will feel on top of the world in no time.
Introducing a few warmer colours, such as reds, pinks, oranges and soft yellows, will also boost your spirits.
Amazing things happen when you focus only on the present moment. Step away from yesterday and tomorrow, or even five minutes ago, and look around you. Here you are, one small, but important part of everything in existence. Understand that you and the flower were created by the same source, which is divine love, and marvel at the magnificence of the flower’s soft petals, knowing that although not one human on earth could create a flower from scratch, yet billions of flowers appear as if by magic. Stop and listen to your own breath. Know that all is well with you at this very moment and you will understand the true essence of spiritual and personal happiness.
