In the constraints of a fear-based world that we seem to live in today, it is so easy to be discouraged and lose hope. It may even be a wonder how human civilisation has lasted as long as it has at the rate it is going. Day in and day out, there is news of death and destruction which is alarming and feeding the fuel of this fear. It can be consuming. It can cause anxiety, hatred and so much more.

On the other side of this, what I have seen and observed over time are groups and communities all around the world gathering together in unity for peace on Earth and making a difference in any way possible. This is helping me to believe in a world that is different and that what we see isn’t always what is real. There is more beneath the surface than meets the eye. There is more to people and what is happening all around us.

One of the biggest lessons I have learnt (and still learning) is… don’t believe in everything your mind tells you. Really it’s true! Your beliefs stem from repeated thoughts that get so ingrained from human conditioning that it can often cloud the truth. What I also learnt from a very young age was that you have to see something to believe it. Everything had to be proven before it was true. It is science, it is power, it is something tangible. Is it though?

What if the opposite is true? The best thing about being human is not something you can prove or see but something you feel and then are able to give back. It is the power of love. This love can dissolve any form of hatred and bring forgiveness to the forefront. This is what it means to heal and we all have that tremendous capacity within us.

Everybody can be great… because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
(Martin Luther King Jr)

I believe in the innate goodness of people. I believe in a society filled with kindness and hope. I believe anything is possible. I believe that no matter how dark it gets that the light will always win. Always! Do you?
